Dhenuka is a demon, who attacked the child Balarama in the form of an ass. Dhenuka was of fierce and malignant nature. When Dhenuka attacked Balarama, he started to kick him on the breast with his hinder heels. But Balarama seized him by both hind legs and whirled him round till he expired. Balarama tossed his carcase to the top of a palm tree. Most of the companions of Dhenuka ran to help him out but all of them were treated in the same way by Balarama.
