History of ABP News Channel
STAR News (now ABP News) was launched on March 15, 2003. It was the first bilingual news service and was initially run by STAR on its own with NDTV (NDTV Profit and NDTV 24X7) doing the production till 2003. But when the agreement with the NDTV expired in 2003, STAR News was transformed into a complete Hindi News Channel, and collaborated with ABP Group. It was the joint venture between News Corporation and Andandabazar Patrika Group of Companies. This is a news channel which offers its viewers all the news which is relevant to contemporary India. The programmes of ABP News channel covers the full spectrum of news ranging from politics to business, investigative reports to consumer issues, crimes to environment issues.
On 16 April 2012, Star and Anandabazar Patrika (ABP) Group announced that they would part ways. It allowed the Rupert Murdoch-controlled company to retreat from the news business in India to focus on entertainment. With the divorce, the eight-year affiliation with the 'Star' brand came to an end. Media Content and Communications (MCCS), the company that owned and operated the news channels mostly in Asia, said that after the split, Hindi news channel Star News would be named ABP News, Bengali news channel Star Ananda would become ABP Ananda and the Marathi news channel Star Majha would be called ABP Majha.
ABP Ananda is a Bengali language 24-hour cable and satellite television news channel. It is headquartered in Kolkata. The channel is owned by ABP News Group. It is a regional network for West Bengal under ABP News. It is a free to air channel.
ABP Majha is a 24-hour Marathi news channel in India. Launched on 22 June 2007, the channel is owned by ABP Group. Rajiv Khandekar is the executive editor of the news channel. Star Majha has an extensive bureau of network in Maharashtra and other regions of India. Star Majha was renamed as ABP Majha on 1 June
ABP Asmita is an Indian television news channel under ABP News. It is a regional subsidiary of the ABP Group for Gujarat.
ABP Sanjha is the Punjabi language news channel. It was launched in 2014 by Media Content and Communication Services (MCCS). ABP Sanjha is a regional channel under the ABP Group.
This channel is for states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. ABP Ganga is their regional news network owned and managed by the ABP News group.
