Vidyadhar died in 1909 A.D. and was succeeded by his son Vijayapala whose accession took place in 1030 A.D. It is not known much about his reign. An inscription of Mahoba indicates that Vijayapala had defeated the Kalachuri king Gangeyadeva. According to Dr. Ray Samanta Moolraj of Kutchapala dynasty had declared himself independent before the death of Vidyadhar. Vijayapala again brought him under his control. King Bhojadeva of Malava was also increasing his power after the death of Vidyadhar. Vijayapala established his authority over him. The king died near about 1050 A.D.
