Some of the main events of his reign can be mentioned as follows.
War with Pala dynasty: During his reign, the Pala dynasty was on the decline. Lakshmi Karna attacked Pala king Jatavarman and conquered Banga and regions from Kanasura to Radha. King Jatavarman married his daughter Virasri with him. Some scholars are of the view that Pala king Nayapala defeated Lakshmi Karna. Nayapala's son Vigrahapala had also defeated him. At last the Palas and the Kalachuris entered into a treaty and Karna gave his daughter Yauvansri in marriage to king Vigrahapala.
Conquest of Kalinga: Lakshami Karna attacked Kalinga and after defeating king Bajrahastav of Ganga dynasty, he established his authority over there.
Conquest over Yavanas: Lakshmi Karna had also attacked Punjab and defeated the Yavanas.
Conquest over Pratiharas: Lakshmi Karna attacked the Pratiharas of Kannauj and after defeating king Yashapala, Lakshi Karna established his authority over Prayaga and had brought Varanasi under his control.
War with Chandellas: Some scholars are of the view that Lakshmi Kama had attacked Chandela king Devavarman and conquered a large portion of his kingdom. But later on he was defeated by king Kirtivarniin of Chandela dynasty. Mahoba and other inscription indicate the defeat of Lakshmi Karna at the hands of Kirtivarman.
Conquest of Malwa: Malwa was under king Bhoja of Parmara dynasty. Chalukya king Bhima I and Lakshami Karna jointly attacked Malwa. During the war, Bhoja died and Malwa was thus conquered by king Bhima I and Lakshmi Karna. However, some days after, Bhoja's son Jaya Singh re-conquered Malwa from Bhima and Lakshatm. He did this with the help of Chalukya king of Kaiyani kama
War with Chalukyas: After being defeated in Malwa, the relations between Bhima and Kama became strained. Hence Lakshmi Kama attacked and defeated Chalukya king bhima. Lakshmi Kama had left the throne even before his death. He abdicated in 1073 A.D. and he did this in favour of his son Yasha Karna.
