Kosambi was once upon a time a historic city with its capital in Vamsa. The city had over the years been an important pilgrimage center for the Buddhists. The major attraction of Kosambi is the Ashokan Pillar. The ruins of Ghositarama are also to be found here. This was the first building that was constructed in Buddha's time. The rubbles of the old city walls are must see. Several artifacts of historical importance had been discovered from Kosambi. These had been kept with The Allahabad Museum and The Archaeological Museum in the Department of Ancient History. These discoveries include Jain, Hindu and Buddhist sculptures.
Kosambi is easily reachable from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. A good network of buses and taxis connect the cities of Allahabad and Kosambi.
