Shiney made his debut in the glamour world with the aid of some commercials. Following that he made his appearance in a music video for Stereo Nation, which is a British Asian band. The third release of his Zindaggi Rocks paired opposite Sushmita Sen failed to create waves in the box-office but. His other release Life in a Metro in which starred opposite Shilpa Shetty gradually set fire in the box-office.

Shiny has also been rewarded with many honours and the main ones include the Zee Cine, IIFA and Stardust Best Debut Award for his role in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. He also got the Most Promising Newcomer Male Award. In 2007 IIFA Awards Shiny received the Best Actor (Critics) Award for Gangster and also the Society Young Achiever's Award for the same. The Kalakar Awards bestowed on him the Best Actor Award for the movie Khoya Khoya Chand.
