Situated at a distance of 27kms from Imphal, the capital of Manipur, Bishnupur is also called the 'land of dancing deers'. It remained as the capital of Bishnupuriya Manipuris.
Renowned for the 15th century Vishnu temple, Bishnupur also boasts a museum named The Thangjing Museum, exactly located at the Lord Thangjing Temple Campus, Moirang.
This is a religious type of museum established in the year 1987. Presently, it is a storehouse of clothes offered to Lord Thangjing, Yenkao Phee (supposed to have been woven by Thoibi for her beloved Khamba)
Interested people may visit the museum between 7 o'clock in the morning to 4 o'clock in the evening.
