The former capital of Jay Singh and Gambhir Singh, Canchipur, located 6km from Imphal is a beautiful place in the state of Manipur. It is more beautiful for the Langthabal, a small hill on the Indo-Burma Road.
Being a place of natural beauty and historical interest, Canchipur is also famous for the Manipur University. In this museum is located the Manipur University Museum. It was established in the year 1982.
Being an anthropological museum, this museum houses different tribal earthenware, potteries, musical instruments, and ornaments and weaving implements.
Except University holidays, the museum remains open from 10am to 4:30pm.
