Referred to as the 'Scotland of the East', Shillong in the state of Meghalaya is a city with lush green natural beauty all over. It boasts one of the largest Golf courses in Asia named as 'Glen Eagle of the East'. Besides, it also has a history of its own. Being a beautiful city, Shillong established the Bishnu Museum with a view to store the items related to the Army of the whole of Meghalaya and its allied regions.
As a result of this, in the year 1943, was established the Bishnu Museum. It is exactly located at the Assam Regimental Centre in the Happy Valley.
The stored items in this museum include regimental memorabilia, Japanese arm captured during World War II, arms captured during counter insurgency operations, uniforms, accoutrements and photographs.
People who are interested to visit the museum may come between 8am to 12noon and 4pm to 6pm. The museum remains closed on every Sunday and other Gazetted holidays.
