Karimnagar, earlier known as `Elgamdala` is a place with a history of its own. In the beginning it was under the rule of the Satavahanas and the Vishnukumdin, Vemulavada Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Qutubshahis and Asaf Jahis. Here an interesting and important place to visit is the Gandhi Centenary Museum.
The museum was established in the year 1969 to store the ancient historical equipments and other things related to the ancient history. It can be viewed as a storehouse of sculptures, arms and weapons, coins, paintings, and modern art.
In addition to these, there are also a lot for the historians and the interested person to relish. These include epigraphs, fossils, chinaware, manuscripts, bronzes, and textiles.
People who are interested to visit may come between 10:30am to 5pm. The museum remains closed on Fridays and on all public holidays.
