The first capital of the Bahmanis, Gulbarga in the state of Karnataka is a district with a majestic historical background. It houses the tomb of Bande Nawaz, the great Sufi Saint, Hirapur mosque built by Chandbibi and the Fort built by Raja Gulchand, a feudatory of the Orangal Kakatiyas. Along with this was built the District Museum on an intention to store the excavated materials and archaeological elements.
The District Museum is an archaeological museum housing sculptures, inscriptions and archaeological objects.
People are welcome to visit the museum between 8am to 1pm in summer and 9am to 5pm in winter. It remains close on every Mondays.
