115th Indian Infantry Brigade

115th Indian Infantry Brigade operated as a part of the British Indian Army. The brigade was raised in September 1943. It remained in active service till 1947.

The infantry formation of the 115th Indian Infantry Brigade operated as a part of the British Indian Army. It remained in active service from 1943 to 1947. The brigade was raised in September 1943 by the British Empire in India. It was formed as a training brigade of the 39th Indian Infantry Division during the Second World War. The brigade included a number of battalions, such as, the 710th Gurkha Rifles Training Battalion, the 56th Gurkha Rifles Training Battalion, the 38th Gurkha Rifles Training Battalion and the 14th Gurkha Rifles Training Battalion.

After the nation achieved freedom in August 1947, the nation was divided into the Union of India and the Dominion of Pakistan through the partition of India. Then the 115th Indian Infantry Brigade was allotted to the modern army of independent India. Later the brigade was attached with the 36th Division in 1971. The troops also served in Sri Lanka as a part the Indian Peace Keeping Force.
