Karaveeram Bhrahmapureshwara alavinathar temple is the 91st in the series of Tevara Stalams in the Chola Region south of the river Kaveri. Gowtama Muni worshipped here. Brahma also worshipped here and hence the name Brahmapureeswarar. The name Karaveeram stems from the stala vriksham alari.Shiva is also known as Karaveeranathar, and Ambal is also known as Minnambikai. This temple covers an area of five acres and has lofty towers. The circumambulatory passage has shrines dedicated to Ganesha, Subramanya, Surya, Chandra, Bhairavar and Saneeswaran.
