Vinod Mehra was a popular Bollywood actor who started his career as a child artist. He worked in more than 100 movies and also ventured in film production and direction.

Vinod Mehra, Bollywood ActorVinod Mehra was one of the celebrated actors of Indian film industry who mostly appeared in Bollywood movies. Born on 13th February 1945 in Amritsar, Vinod Mehra`s career began as a child actor in late 1950s when he performed in a few Hindi movies. As an adult, he started his career in the year 1971 and earned huge popularity. Vinod Mehra enacted in more than 100 movies. He also ventured in film production and direction but unfortunately could not witness the release of the movie due to his death at an age of 45.

Career of Vinod Mehra
Vinod Mehra started his acting career in the year 1958 with movie Raagni. He performed as a child artist in the film and portrayed the younger version of the character portrayed by Kishore Kumar. Afterwards he performed in a few more movies as a child artist in which he was featured in minor roles. His first venture as an adult was the movie Ek Thi Rita in the year 1971 in which he starred alongside Tanuja. The movie was based on the English play `A Girl Called Rita` and achieved huge success at the box office. Vinod Mehra next appeared in the movie Parday Ke Peechhay along with Yogeeta Bali who was a newcomer then. This was followed by several other movies such as Lal Patthar, Amar Prem, Elaan etc. The actor gained recognition as a potent actor in the film industry with Shakti Samanta`s movie Anuraag in 1972 opposite Moushumi Chatterji. In the two decades of his career he starred in over 100 movies, among which many presented him as the lead actor while in others he portrayed secondary lead or supporting roles. He worked with a number of famed and renowned actors of the country including Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Rekha, Shabana Azmi and many others.

The actor received Filmfare nomination as Best Supporting Actor for his movies Anurodh (1977), Amar Deep (1979) and Bemisal (1982). He also worked in a Punjabi film Maujaan Dubai Diyaan where he played the lead role in 1985. In late 1980s, he turned to direct and produce a movie named Gurudev which featured Anil Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Sridevi as the leads but could not complete the movie due to his sudden death. The movie was later released in 1993 under the direction of Raj Sippy. Apart from this, many of his delayed movies were released after his death and were dedicated to his memory. However, some of the movies including Aurat Aurat Aurat and Insaniyat were delayed and rewritten after his death to exclude some parts of Vinod Mehra`s character.

Personal Life of Vinod Mehra
Vinod Mehra had married three times. Meena Broca was his first wife. Shortly after his first marriage, he suffered a heart attack. After he recovered, he married the popular actress and his frequent co-star Bindiya Goswami while he was still married to his first wife. Consequently, Meena left him but Vinod`s marriage with Bindiya also dissolved soon. Later he married Kiran and the couple had two children namely Soniya and Rohan.
