Andhra Pradesh is an Indian State located in the Southern region of India. It is one of the 29 states of India. The state has a total of 13 districts, the Anantapur district is the largest and Srikakulam district is the smallest district. The districts of Andhra Pradesh are divided into two regions of the state, i.e., Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Telugu is the official language of Andhra Pradesh, which is spoken by the majority of the population.

The state consists of a total population of 49,386,799 with a density of 308/km2. The total population comes around 70.4 per cent of rural population along with 34,776,389 inhabitants and 29.6 per cent consists of urban population with 14,610,410 inhabitants. The district of Vishakhapatnam comprises of the largest urban population of 47.5 per cent and the district of Srikakulam comprises of the largest rural population of 83.9 per cent among other districts within the state.

The average percentage of literacy rate stands at 67.41 per cent comprising 29,772,532 literates. The district of West Godavari has highest literacy rate with 74.6 per cent and the Vizianagaram district has the least rate with 58.9 per cent.
