Vedasandur is located in Dindigul district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a panchayat town located at 10.53°N 77.95°E. The town has an average elevation of 219 metres. Vedasandur derived its name from Vedan Sandhaiur. The word Vedan means hunter and Sandhai means a place for selling. Long ago hunters visited the place to sell goods like animal nails, animal leathers, honey and other goods they gathered doing hunting. Vedasandur has 3 panchayat unions, Gujiliamparai, Vedasandur and Vadamadurai.

Apart from this, there are other temples here like Shiva Temple, Vishnu Temple, Pathra Kaliamman Kovil, Mariamman Kovil, Kunguma Kaliamman Kovil, Poonkaliamman Kovil, EllaiKaliamman Kovil, Rangamalai Shiva Temple, Muniappan Kovil, Nagmmal Temple and others. The town also has two churches, Fathima Madha Church and CSI Church.
Vedasandur is well connected with all modes of transport. The town is located at a distance of 22 km from Dindigul, 58 km from Karur, 100 km from Trichy, 84 km from Madurai and 50 km Palani. Buses ply from all these places for the town.
