Vazhachal Falls

Vazhachal Falls, Kerala is located near Athirappilly Falls and is a popular tourist spot, created by the branching of Chalakudy River into three separate branches, flowing over moss covered rocks.

Vazhachal Falls, AthirappillyVazhachal Falls is located in Athirappilly Panchayath of Thrissur District in Kerala which is based in the south-western coast of India and is present at a distance of only 5 kms away from the origin of the Athirappilly Falls and at a distance of about 36 kms away from Chalakudy. This waterfall is existent near the Chalakudy River which flows towards the west, close to the Vazhachal Forest Division. It borders the mountain range of Sholayar and is very picturesque, cascading down amongst the lush green surroundings of the regional forests and rocks. Its waters are cool and misty, and an ideal treat for the eyes of travellers and nature lovers. Due to its beauty, it is often utilized as a unique picnic spot.

Vazhachal Falls is situated about 60 kms away from the city of Thrissur. Chalakudy River divides into three separate branches which are a part of the Vazhachal Falls and the Chalakudy River creates riparian forests. The rocks of Vazhachal Falls are covered with layers of moss and therefore are slippery, making them dangerous if visitors step on them, trying to balance their footsteps with the stream which seems to be shallow.
