Vattavada hill station is located about 45 km east of Munnar in the serene village of Vattavada, Idukki District. It is situated at an altitude of 6500 feet above sea level. The hill station lies in the eastern side of the Western Ghats.

This small scenic village have innumerable varieties of vegetables that are difficult to find in other parts of Kerala. Here, amazing fruits grow which includes apple, orange, strawberry, blackberry, plums, gooseberry, and egg fruits to name a few.

Besides the slopes of vegetable and fruit fields, there are forest patches, interspersed with eucalyptus and conifers. The area also has various species of colourful birds and other winged beauties like butterflies in various colours, sizes and shapes.

The scenic hilly tract of Vattavada also attracts many sports enthusiasts from various corners of the world. Activities like mountain jeep safari, mountain biking, jungle camping can be done in this region. It also offers safe and enjoyable trekking. Some of the trekking routes starting from Vattavada include the ones going to Kodaikanal, Top Station, Mattupetty, Kanthaloor and Meesapulimala.

Connectivity of Vattavada Hill Station The hill station can be accessed by air and rail. The closest airport is Cochin International Airport, about 110 km away from Munnar. The nearest railway station is Ernakulum junction, about 130 km away from Munnar. It is also well connected by road, so regular taxi services can be availed.
