Located in a village called Uchangidurga in the southern state of Karnataka in the Bellary district, the historic Uchangidurga Fort is currently a crumbling edifice due to heavy rainfall and human encroachment, which have taken their toll on the fort. Initiatives are being taken for the proper conservation of the fort and only recently, the fortress and the area surrounding it has been taken over by the Archaeological Survey of India.
