Turner Classic MoviesTurner Classic Movies which was originally launched by Ted Turner had been one of the leading English movie channels that feature the most popular commercial free English films in India. This channel mainly shares movies from the film library of Turner Entertainment and Warner Bros. along with MGM, United Artists, RKO and Warner Bros. Titles. This channel often shows restored versions of films, particularly old silent films with newly commissioned musical soundtracks. Turner Classic Movies usually telecasts the movies from 1920s onwards through 1960s while recently it featured few popular movies of 1970s, 80s, 90 as well as 2000. Overall this channel has been largely known for being the official channel for telecasting English classical movies.

Turner Classic Movies which holds a vast library of Turner Entertainment was launched with an idea to serve as the base library for all the classic English movies that will be telecasted. Turner Classic Movies n various Hollywood channels. This channel began its journey with the telecast of one of the most popular movies of 1930s Gone with the Wind which was initially telecasted by its sister channel TNT. With the withdrawal of TNT this channel has gathered a rich library of English classics that shall include all the restored versions of English classics. This channel has been perhaps the only channel which is commercial-free and mainly telecasts the uncut and commercial free movies which also includes some of the restored versions of original silent movies with newly commissioned musical tracts.

Turner Classic Movies regarding its programmes largely include the vibrant movie schedule from various decades. Along with the old classics this channel also includes the popular tracks. Along with movies the channel fills the gap between two movies with the series of trailers and classic short subjects which are telecasted under the banner of TCM Extras. This includes the series like The Passing Parade, Crime Does Not Pay, Pete Smith Specialties and Robert Benchley. Since 2007 the channel also broadcasted some of the short films which gave a boost to its schedules of movies. Along with a vibrant movie library this channel also includes some new programmes to entertain its viewers. This includes The Essentials is a weekly program on Saturdays at 8pm ET; in October 2006, the network premiered `TCM Underground`, a Friday late-night series hosted by rocker/filmmaker Rob Zombie; Fun day night at the movies, hosted by voice-over actor Tom Kenny; "Essentials Jr.", a youth-oriented version of its The Essentials weekly series. Overall the channel had telecasted a number of new programmes in its summer sessions.

Turner Classic Movies in India celebrates the world of Indian cinema with a 12-film festival dedicated to "Bollywood," in the year 2003. The films in TCM`s festival, rarely available to American audiences, represent the grandest and most colourful Bollywood films, from tragi-comic melodramas to romances, containing the over-the-top operatic approach to filmmaking, use of colour and elaborate choreography for which the genre is known. The festival covered films from the early 1950s through the beginning of the 21st century. Included in the festival were great movies like Do Bigha Zameen, Mother India, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Rangeela, The Creation of a Woman and the like.

Turner Classic Movies overall includes a wide DVD collection from the slots of Universal Collection, The lost RKO collection, TCM Achieves and TCM spotlight. Internationally this channel has been telecasted in many more countries like Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain, Asia, Latin America, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Poland. In United Kingdom this channel is telecasted within two tracts TCM and TCM 2.

Thus Turner Classic Movies can be considered to be one of the most popular English classical channels that lay down a separate definition of Entertainment in which builds a bridge between the past and present.
