Taktsang Gompa is located in the Tawang District of Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of the popular pilgrimages of Tawang. Guru Padmasambhava is said to have visited this place.

It is one of the popular pilgrimages of Tawang, which was built during 8th century when Guru Padmasambhava visited this place. According to the legends, Guru Padmasambhava meditated here in a cave for some time. Sangest Lake, located near to the gompa, is a popular tourist spot. It is also known as Madhuri Lake, because Madhuri Dixit once shot a song here.

Visiting Information to Taktsang Gompa
Taktsang Gompa can be visited throughout the year except winter season due to heavy snowfall. It is 45 km away from Tawang, which needs almost two hours of drive from Tawang till Bumla Pass. From Sangetsar Lake it is 15 minutes trek to reach the gompa. Salonibari Airport in Tezpur and Tezpur Railway Station are the nearest to reach Tawang. Tawang is 262 km from Bhalukpong, 319 km from Tezpur, 381 km from East Kameng. Regular buses of Arunachal Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) are available from and to these cities.
