Ta Ra Rum Pum, Indian movie"Ta Ra Rum Pum" is an Indian sports-drama movie directed by Siddharth Anand, which was released in the year 2007. The movie stars Saif Ali Khan opposite Rani Mukherjee, Angelina Idani, Ali Haji and Javed Jaffrey. It was a hit at the Box office and became one of the highest grossing films of 2007. "Ta Ra Rum Pum" was inspired from the 1986 movie "Top Gun". It got mixed criticisms.

Plot of Ta Ra Rum Pum
The Indian movie `Ta Ra Rum Pum` is set at the backdrop of New York City where Rajveer Singh played by Saif Ali Khan is a pit-crew worker in a racing team with a passion for driving who gets discovered by a team manager, Harry played by Jaaved Jaffrey. The same day he accidentally meets a music student, Radhika Rai Banerjee played by Rani Mukerji, and instantly falls in love with her. He gets drafted into `Speeding Saddles` that is a failing race team and transforms from Rajveer Singh to `RV`- the racecar driver. While his racing career takes off instantly, his love life also blossoms after a whirlwind romance. He wins his first race and keeps winning. Soon he becomes the number 1 racecar driver in the USA and a quite wealthy man.

Ta Ra Rum Pum, Indian movieWhat started as an innocent love blossoms into a serious relationship as months pass by. Radhika is a great pianist, doing major in music at Columbia University, whereas Rajveer has no degree or any educational background. His lack of education and planning earns the disapproval of Radhika`s father, Subho Shekar Roy Banerjee played by Victor Banerjee. Radhika leaves her father and marries RV.

She forgets about her degree and takes on her job as a wealthy housewife therefore Radhika Shekar Rai Banerjee turns into Shona. Their family is complete with the birth of two children, Priya aka Princess played by Angelina Idnani and Ranveer aka Champ played by Ali Haji. Now he is both a happily married man and one of the country`s best racers.

Ta Ra Rum Pum, Indian movieHowever tragedy strikes when RV is involved in an accident whilst racing and he is hospitalized for a few months. The accident is actually done by his opponent racer Rusty out of jealousy and RV becomes the victim. He tries to make a comeback but the trauma of the accident mentally scars him. A year later, when RV returns to the racetrack, he no longer has the same edge as before. After a series of losses, RV loses his job and Rusty is signed on in his place. Unable to pay their loans and debts, RV and Radhika are forced to auction their home and have to shift to a low-class cabbie neighborhood in New York. RV and Radhika decide to hide the terrible truth from their children by saying that they are part of a reality television show where they have to live a poor life in order to win a mythical grand prize. And they have to do it with a big smile in everyone`s face.

Even as RV and Radhika struggle to make ends meet, every member of the family makes sacrifice for the other. The family struggle with their new lifestyle but stick together by using a mixture of fantasy and cheerfulness to pull through. RV even works as a cabbie which he hates the most and Radhika as a club pianist. They earn minimum amount to pay the school fees of the kids. But when the kids become aware of the fact that they have become poor, they also try to help their parents and start saving money without taking proper lunch. And this practice of taking other`s left out food results in to a huge accident and Champ becomes ill. A lot of money is needed for his operation and RV has no clue of what to do. His manager Harry comes with a proposal of doing a race. Harry sells off everything and buys a racing car.

RV faces a life and death situation when he goes to the racecourse with his daughter. He starts the race and soon gets speed and hold of it. Rusty tries to attack him but RV successfully overcomes it with a blow for Rusty. RV wins the race and reclaims everything he had lost. Champ`s operation is successful and they live happily ever after.
