Sri Vadivazhagiya Nambi Perumal Temple also known as Thiru Anbil is situated near Tiruchirapalli in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The temple is situated at a distance of almost 8 kms from Lalgudi on the banks of Kollidam River. The temple is regarded as one of the 108 Divya desams and Pancharanga Kshetrams. Anbil is also known by different names such as Mandookapuri, Tirumaalayanturai and Bhrahmapuri.

Sri Vadivazhagiya Nambi Perumal Temple is spread over an area of almost 1.5 acres of land. The temple built on the northern bank of the Kollidam River faces the eastern side. The entrance gate of the temple is adorned with a 3 tiered Rajagopuram. Earlier the region was ruled by King Sundara Chola who was a fervent devotee of Lord Shiva. He is said to have offered huge amounts of wealth that he won in battles.
The temple finds its mention in a pasuram written by Tirumazhisai Alwar. Pasuram is a divine Tamil poem written by minstrels of Lord Vishnu known as Azhvars. The writer mentions in the pasuram about seven shrines such as Tirukkudandai, Tiruvallur, Tiruvegkaa, Tiruppernagar, Tiruvarangam, Tirupparkadal and Anbil. These temples enshrine the images of Lord Vishnu in a reclining position.
