Shrivardhan Fort is located in Rajmachi at Pune district of Maharashtra. The fort lies in the Sahyadri Mountain Ranges at an elevation of 900 m above sea level. It is one of the two hill forts that constitute the Rajmachi fortification, the other being Manaranjan Fort. Shrivardhan Fort was once used as a watchtower for the Sahyadri Region. Other than a rampart there is no visible construction. The place is home for many different species of birds because of immense greenery here, and an attractive spot of visit for the tourists and trekkers.
Structure of Shrivardhan Fort Shrivardhan Fort has a semicircular shaped gate that forms the entrance of the fort. There is an image of Lord Ganesha on the door of the fort. There are two water tanks at the top of the hill where one of them has an iron pillar. The fort is constructed in typical Maratha style. The fort has a cave belonging to Buddha period. There is also an old temple of Shri Bhairavnath that lies between the Shrivardhan Fort and Manoranjan Fort.
Visiting Information of Shrivardhan Fort Shrivardhan Fort is just 13.5 km away from Lonavala. Lonavala is well-connected. There are cabs and autos available to get here. There are two ways to reach the fort:
1. Lonavla-Tungarli way - It is an easy path which takes about 1 hour to reach the base village Udhewadi.
2. Karjat-Kondivade way - It requires a trekking up the hill for 2 hour. This route passes through dense forest area through the Ulhas river valley.
