Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu is a political personality and the current governor of Goa. He served as an IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh.

Shivinder Singh Sidhu, Governor of ManipurShivinder Singh Sidhu is the present governor of the state of Goa. He was appointed on July 21, 2008. He had served as the eighteenth Governor of Manipur after serving for different esteemed positions. Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu has succeeded Shri Arvind Dave, as Governor of Manipur, from 6th August, 2004.

Early Life of Shivinder Singh Sidhu
Singh Sidhu was born on October 13, 1929. From the Delhi School of Economics, he has done his Masters in Economics and from the University of Kanpur, he secured Ph.D in Economics Development. In the year 1952, he joined the Indian Administrative Services (IAS). He has delivered his service since then to the State and Central Governments. He served the posts of the District Magistrate, Kanpur and the Secretaries to the Chief Ministers of U.P. He has also represented India in various International Seminars including the United Nations. In various other occasions he has also served as the Secretary to the Government of India. He was the Chairman of Air India and Indian Airlines.

From August 1988 to August 1991, he served as the President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization. He secured the post of President of Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism (FAST). Under the leadership of the Uttar Pradesh government Shivinder Singh Sidhu worked as the advisor and secretary to three Chief Ministers of the state and also as the District Magistrate posted in Kanpur. He has equalled India in various International Seminars which also include the United Nations. On August 6, 2004 he also became the Governor of the state of Manipur.

Shivinder Singh Sidhu as a Government Officer
Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu held several positions in the Government of India office as well. He had served as the advisor to the various ministries like the Ministry of Industrial Development and the Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation. Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu had also acted as the chief advisor to the Governor of Punjab and the Governor of Tamil Nadu. He is the President of Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism (FAST). He had attended several meetings and conferences that were internationally convened. He was also assigned the special project of calculating the funds related to the Commonwealth for Technical Development in Islands of South Pacific Ocean. The session had assembled from June to August in the year 1994.

Shivinder Singh Sidhu as an Author
Shivinder Singh has penned down several books from his experience and expertise. Two of the books he has written are `Tourism and Aviation-Airborne for Progress` and `Flight into the Millennium-Aviation and Tourism Symbiosis`. And the rest are `Steel Industry in India - Problems & Perspective`, `Aviation & Sustainable Tourism - Emerging Trends`, `New Horizons in Travel & Tourism - Asian Approach` and `Aviation and Tourism: Synergy for Success`.
