In the Hindu mythology Shankha is the divine Conch shell or sea shell. This is one of the symbols in the Hindu Lord Vishnu`s hands. Lord Vishnu is also known as Narayan and is anticipated to have four hands. He holds the Shankha or the conch shell on one hand, the Sudarshana Chakra in second hand, a Gada or a mace in the third and Padma or the lotus flower in the fourth hand respectively.
Shankha is used to alarm enemies and to start battle. Thus Shankha is regarded as the symbol of awakening. Even the resonance of Shankha after it is blown is regarded as a divine sound. Shankha is blown for regular rituals of Lord Vishnu.
