Satluj Valley is located in the Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh. Sutlej River runs through the valley. The valley is encompassed by rocky hills and snowy peaks and the famous Buddhist Monastery Tashigang Gompa is situated near the confluence of Sutlej and Spiti rivers. India"s largest bird sanctuary named Harike Bird Sanctuary is located near this region. Yellow Eyed Pigeon, Tufted Duck, Yellow clowned Woodpecker, Watercock, White rumped vulture are some of the species of birds that can be seen in this sanctuary.
