S Ramakrishnan (1966) is a prominent Tamil author. He was born in Virudhunagar district in Tamil Nadu. He has tried his hands in various genre of literature that includes novel, plays, short stories and translations. He is famous for his column Thunai Ezhuthu in the magazine Ananda Vikatan. His short stories have also been translated in foreign and other Indian languages which include: German, French, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam. Other compositions include: Kadhaa Vilaasam, Desaandri, and Alainthen Tirindhen.

He introduced a modern style of story telling in his short stories. The literary publication Atcharam has edited the literary publication Atcharam for five years. He has also composed four books for children. Upa Paandavam, a novel by S Ramakrishnan was written after a deep research into Mahabharata. The novel Nedum Kuruthi dealt with the dark and tragic experiences of the oppressed people who were treated cruelly by the Britishers. This work secured him the Ghanavaani award for the Best Novel. Yaamam, has been written with the backdrop of the city of Chennai`s three hundred years history. Urrupasi is a novel that conveys the mental agonies of a young man who was unemployed as he had a degree in Tamil language. His popular articles were "Thunai Ezhuthu", "Desanthari", "Kathavilaasam", "Kelvikurri", and "Chiridhu Vellicham" that appeared in the Tamil weekly Ananda Vikatan.
He has also compiled an introductory collection on world cinema called Ulaga Cinema. His four books are based on cinema: Ayal Cinema, Pather Panchali, Chithirangalin Vichithirangal and Paesa Therindha Nizhalgal.
