Roing town is located in the Lower Dibang Valley District of Arunachal Pradesh state. It is the headquarters of the district and the last major township at the north-eastern frontier of India. Roing is located in a valley on the banks of the Dibang River with picturesque views. Roing is encompassed with snow peaked mountains, deep gorges, turbulent rivers, numerous waterfalls, placid lakes, archaeological sites etc. Along with them, the pleasant climate of this region makes it a popular spot for tourism. Roing is predominantly inhabited by the Idu Mishmi Tribe.

According to the 2011 Indian census, Roing had a population of 11,389, out of which 5,325 are females and 6,064 are males. The average literacy rate of the town is 88.39 percent. Male literacy rate is 91.94 percent and female literacy rate is 84.35 percent. Population of children under 6 years of age is 1157.
Tourism in Roing
Apart from the scenic spots of Roing, there are several other tourist spots near the town. The popular tourist spots are Nehru Van Udyan, Bhismaknagar, Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary and Lake, Mayudia etc. The places are detailed below:
Nehru Van Udyan: This forest park located near to the Deopani River bank has a well maintained garden and an orchidarium.
Bhismaknagar: Located at a distance of 30 km from Roing, Bhismaknagar is an archaeological site. This is considered to be the home of Rukmini, Lord Krishna"s wife. It is believed that Rukmini belonged to the Idu Mishmi tribe. The excavation was done from 1969 to 1973 and the things belong to the 12th century. The excavated things are consisted of ruins of hill fort, burnt bricks, terracotta plaques, decorative tiles, potteries, terracotta figurines etc. Bhismaknagar has its mentioned on "Bhagawat Gita" and "Mahabharata".
Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary: It is located 17 km away from Roing and spread over an area of about 281.5 sq. km. It is the abode of some rare species like hillock gibbon, red panda, tiger, elephant etc.
Mayudia: It is a hill resort located at a height of 8000 ft and 56 km from Roing. It offers astounding views of snow capped mountains and valleys. One can see the twelve necked point named Baro Golai on the way to Mayudia from Roing.
