Early Life of Rajesh Pratap Singh
Born in the year 1971 the designer has the essence of the soils of Royal Rajput family of Rajasthan and currently based in New Delhi. Singh graduated from NIFT Delhi in 1994; and thereafter he was trained by New Delhi-based designer David Abraham before graduating. Next his fate took him to work with Italian menswear label, Marzotto. Singh started his own line of men`s & women`s clothing in the year 1996 after his incidental familiarity of two years in the fashion industry in India and Italy. The designer is acknowledged for his minimalism & understated design aesthetics with a sharp eye for detailing. Pratap`s examination with fabric texturing & most prominently his creative convention of pin tucks has almost become synonymous to the label. The input to his work smears in simplicity, clean cuts & flawless detailing. The designer`s convictional credence in silence is reflected in the name of his prˆt line RIP (Rest in Peace). Pratap has depicted in collections in Paris & Milan as well apart from India. He is also the Associate Design member of Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Rajesh Pratap Singh has his roots ingrained in the family of doctors. His father, being a cardiologist expected him to take up medicines. However, Pratap was prone to his cousin`s profession who was a costume assistant on a BBC production set in India. The designer is often termed to be a recluse ascetic & a media shy person as he nourishes the perception that people should associate themselves with his work instead of his name. His wife Payal along with his sister also works with him in the business.
