Rajat Kapoor, Indian Television ActorRajat Kapoor is an actor, director and writer. He was born on 1961 in a Punjabi family in the old city part of the capital of the Indian subcontinent. He has a brother as well who is into making comic strips. He completed his schooling and college from Delhi. He also joined the theater group in Delhi. He then created a group called Chingari in the year 1983. Rajat Kapoor then shifted to Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune at the age of 25.

Kapoor later began writing and directing shorts. He made his first full length directorial with Private Detective: Two Plus Two Plus One (1997), starring Irrfan Khan and Naseeruddin Shah in minor roles. In 2001, Kapoor first appeared in Farhan Akhtar `Dil Chahta Hai` as Preity Zinta`s uncle He received international attention in Mira Nair`s `Monsoon Wedding` as Tej Puri who is accused of abusing Ria, played by Shefali Shah. He also appeared in the role of a prince in the movie `Kisna: The Warrior Poet.` Rajat Kapoor mainly focused in contemporary cinema. He has acted in many critically acclaimed films which include `Mixed Doubles` (2006) with Konkona Sen, Ranvir Shorey and Koel Purie, `Corporate` with Bipasha Basu, /Bheja Fry/ starring Vinay Pathak, `Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na`, (2008), `Dasvidaniya` (2008). and also as Muhammad Ali Jinnah in a UK television film The Last Days Of The Raj in 2007. In 2003, he wrote and directed the independent film `Raghu Romeo`. The movie was not a box office success but it won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. Apart from Raghu Romeo he has also directed many other movies like `Taraana` (1994), `Hypnothesis` (1998) and `Jojo and the Chair` (2001).
