Indian Radio witnessed thorough expansion in reach and popularity when private players ventured into it, broadcasting programmes in their own style and scripted manner.

Red FM 93.5 "Bajaate Raho!" is India`s premier and fastest growing private radio station, broadcasted at 93.5 megahertz frequency. It has a reach over 15 Indian states and multiple cities in addition to metros New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, broadcasting in Hindi and regional languages. Owned by the Sun Group, it was launched in 2002 playing a mix of Hindi and English songs, the programming being 100% exclusively in Hindi today.

Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM is a nationwide network of private FM radio stations in India, owned by Entertainment Network India Ltd. (ENIL), one of the subsidiaries of The Times Group. "Mirchi" is literally Red Chilli in Hindi and the tagline of the popular station is "It`s Hot!". It originally aired in 1993 as Times FM in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Radio City, National Radio Station
Radio City is India`s first independent private FM radio station that started in Bengaluru on July 3, 2001. It broadcasts on 91.1 megahertz from Bengaluru, Mumbai, Lucknow, New Delhi and Kanpur (104.8 FM) amongst other multiple cities. It plays a mix of Hindi and regional music. In 2010, Radio City launched its first web radio station Radio City Fun Ka Antenna, today having 21 web radio stations.

92.7 Big FM, National Radio Station
92.7 Big FM is a nationwide private FM radio channel in India owned by Indian businessman Anil Ambani, broadcasting at 92.7 megahertz. With coverage of 45 cities, it is the only private radio station being broadcast from Srinagar and Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir. First aired in 2006, it has its reach in Singapore and Bhutan in addition to major Indian cities. Its tagline reads: "Suno Sunao, Life Banao".
