Pawan is an Indian film actor who has appeared mostly in Tamil films and a few Malayalam language movies. He started out playing minor and cameo roles in Tamil Cinema, before making his credited debut in the year 2007, with the Tamil action thriller "Polladhavan", directed by Vetrimaran. The film, which saw him featuring in the supporting role of Out, was a major box office success. He later played the lead role in the 2012 Tamil film "Sengathu Bhoomiyilae", directed by M. Rathnakumar.
Film Career of Pawan
Pawan initially appeared in Tamil films in minor roles, the first one being an uncredited role in the 1997 Tamil movie "Raasi". He subsequently played minor and cameo appearances in films "Bala", "Englishkaran", "Kasthuri Maan", "Ji", "Thimiru" and "Kalabha Kadhalan", before making his notable debut in a supporting role with the 2007 action thriller film "Polladhavan", alongside Dhanush, Divya Spandana, Daniel Balaji, Kishore and Karunas. The film saw him portraying the character Out, the henchman of Selvam played by Kishore and was a major success at the box office. He was next seen in 2008 as Soori, in the film "Kuruvi" and appeared in films "Dindigul Sarathy" and "Bheemaa" the same year. His work for the Vijay-starrer "Kuruvi" prevented him from accepting offers for roles in films "Aegan" and "Silambattam".
Pawan subsequently starred as a police officer, Bhupathi, trying to outwit Nakul"s titular character in Manohar`s 2009 comedy film "Maasilamani", that was a commercial success. The same year, he made his Malayalam Cinema debut appearing in the crime film "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves", after which he was seen in a dual role in Tamil film "Suriyan Satta Kalloori". In 2010, he was seen in Malayalam films "Black Stallion" and "The Thriller".
The year 2012 saw the actor playing his first lead role in M. Rathnakumar-directed "Sengathu Bhoomiyilae". The film, where Pawan portrayed the character of Vallarasu alongside Mirchi Senthil, had a low key release and garnered mixed reviews from critics but flopped miserably at the box office. He then appeared in Tamil thriller "Mayanginen Thayanginen" and mystery drama "Thagaraaru", playing one of the four leads in the latter alongside Arulnithi, Tarun Shatriya and Aadukalam Murugadoss. Pawan earned critical acclaim for his performance, as did the film which did average business at the box office. He was next seen as Burma Kumar in the drama film "Ragalaipuram", alongside Karunas, Angana Roy and Sanjana Singh. The film opened to mixed reviews.
In 2014, Pawan acted in the Ajith Kumar-starrer "Veeram", playing the murdered son of character Nallasivam, alongside an ensemble supporting cast. The film received a positive response from critics and was declared a box office success. The same year, he appeared in films "Theriyama Unna Kadhalichitten" alongside Vijay Vasanth and Resna Pavithran in the lead, and the film "Vilasam". In January 2016, he was seen in the Pandiraj-directed action thriller "Kathakali", starring Vishal and Catherine Tresa in the lead. The film, featuring Pawan as Sambantham, received fair reviews. Pawan is currently filming Tamil action film "Vaigai Express", directed by Shaji Kailas and featuring actor R. K. and Neetu Chandra in the lead. The film, produced by R. K. himself, is the official remake of 2007 Malayalam thriller film "Nadiya Kollappetta Rathri".
