Parasgad Fort

Parasgad Fort is a hill fort located in the district of Belgaum in Karnataka state. It was constructed by the rulers of the Ratta dynasty in the 10th century.

The fort is situated almost 2 km towards the south of the village of Saundatti. Parasgad Fort is located at a height of 500 m on the top of a hill. The sides of the hill are nearly perpendicular and rocky.

The hill fort of Parasgad includes a shrine of Lord Maruti (Hanuman) which is presently in a ruined state. A staircase from the fort leads to the Yadravi village. A water reservoir known as Ramatheertha is located near the fortress. There is also a cave which consists of various images of Hindu gods and goddesses, such as Lord Rama, Sita, Lord Parashurama, Jamadagni and a Shiva Linga (Lingam) with Nandi.
