National Rail Museum located on the Shanti Path in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, offers an exclusive exhibition of very uncommon examples of train engines and carriages, such as the Patiala Monorail Teamway, 1907-1927. The fascination preserves, depicts the journey of Indian railways, for approximately 145 years.

Covering a total area of about 10 acres, the most attention-arresting entertainment for the fun-loving energetic kids is the toy train that acts as the transport for the trip round the whole museum.
The hallmark of the resplendent storage of the National Rail Museum, New Delhi, is the first train, a steam engine, that started off from, Mumbai to Thane for the first time in 1853.
The vintage department flaunts the world`s earliest locomotives in a functioning status, for example, Viceregal Dining Car (1889) and the Prince of Wales Saloon (1875), Maharaja of Mysore`s Saloon (1899), Maharaja of Baroda`s Saloon (1886), etc. The National Rail Transport Museum, New Delhi, also exhibits the famous, Fairy Queen of 1855, ranked as one of the excellent steam-engines of its times.
The visiting hours are scheduled from 9.30a.m. to 7p.m. in summer, and 9.30a.m. to 5p.m, during the winter months . However, the Museum remains closed on National Holidays and Mondays.
