Nandan Pahar

Nandan Pahar is a major tourist attraction site in Deoghar District of Jharkhand.

Nandan Pahar, Deoghar, JharkhandNandan Pahar is a small hill in Deoghar District of Jharkhand. It is about three kilometers away from Baba Baidyanath Station. It houses the famous Nandi Temple along with some other temples on it with beautiful idols of Shiva, Parvati, Ganesh and Karthik. The site also has a water tank, which supplies filtered water to the entire region. Tourists can also see beautiful views of the district, sunrise and sunset from Nandan Pahar hill.

Mythological Story of Nandan Pahar
According to the Hindu mythology, once Ravana tried to enter Shivadham forcibly when Nandi was the doorkeeper of Lord Shiva. Nandi stopped him from entering the premises of Lord Shiva. Then Ravana got furious and threw him down at this site and hence, the hill is known by his name. Apart from housing the Nandi temple, the hill also has a famous park named Nandan Hill Entertainment Park. It has been constructed by the government of Deoghar District. It has got its importance in the religious history of Babadham.

Kolkata Airport and Ranchi Airport would be the nearest to this place. If one goes by train then Baba Baidyanath Station would be the nearest railway station, which is 3 km away from the site. This place can also be reached by bus, regular buses are available from Deoghar bus stand (2 km).
