Naina Devi Wildlife Sanctuary

Naina Devi Wildlife Sanctuary, Himachal Pradesh is situated above the Shivalik Hills and inside it, is present the renowned Naina Devi Temple. The Gobind Sagar Sanctuary is connected to this sanctuary which comprises Deciduous Forests, Pine Forests and numerous wild animals.

The sanctuary is based at an elevation of nearly 500 metres to 1, 100 metres above sea level, in the inner hills of Shivalik Mountain Ranges. Wildlife enthusiasts would be welcomed by lush greenery and plenty of exotic wildlife which is existent inside the premises of Naina Devi Wildlife Sanctuary. The total area occupied by this sanctuary measures about 37 acres and the name of this sanctuary is obtained from the famous Naina Devi Temple which stands on the hill, immediately above the wildlife sanctuary. This renowned wildlife reserve adjoins the Gobind Sagar Sanctuary which is existent nearby, flanking the sanctuary on its western and eastern sides. It is about 30 kms away from Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh.

Several species of plants are noticed in Naina Devi Sanctuary which involves Bamboo, Sisso, different kinds of Scrubs, Pine Forests, Deciduous Forests and a large quantity of attractive flowers which beautify this wildlife sanctuary.

Fauna of Naina Devi Sanctuary
The beautiful grounds of Naina Devi Sanctuary provides refuge to innumerable wild animals and birds including Common Giant Flying Squirrel, Himalayan Yellow Throated Marten, Indian Porcupine, Rhesus Macaque, Leopard, Jackal, Serow, Sambar and reptiles like Common Rattle Snake, Common Indian Krait, Indian Cobra, North House Gecko and many other wonderful creatures.
