Located in the town of Ballabhgarh in Faridabad district in the state of Haryana, the Nahar Singh Mahal is a fort. Also known as the Raja Nahar Singh Palace, the fort was built around 1733 AD and was finally completed in 1850 by the ancestors of the Jat Raja Nahar Singh.
Architecture of Nahar Singh Mahal
The Nahar Singh Mahal is a double storied sandstone structure that was fashioned around a vast central courtyard with elaborate cupolas and minarets. On the four corners of the fort, it was decorated with minars, out of which only two stands currently. The Nahar Singh Mahal also has a palace, which is currently a heritage property after its restoration by the Government of Haryana.
Tourists are attracted to this fort, especially during the time of the Kartik Cultural Festival, which has been held since 1996 and is still one of the main annual fairs in the area. The festivities are held during the Hindu calendar month of Kartika in the grounds of the Nahar Singh Mahal.
