Malegaon Fort is a land fort located in the Malegaon town in the Nashik district of Maharashtra. Located 104 kms away from Nashik, the Malegaon Fort is situated on the north bank of Mausam River which is a tributary of the Girna River. The fort is also called as "Raje Bahadur Wada". At present, there is a Marathi High School located on its premises as well. Despite so many years since its construction, the fort is still in excellent condition.

History of Malegaon Fort
In 1740, this fort was constructed by Naro Shankar Raje Bahadur, the general of Peshwa. Many craftsmen were brought from Surat and northern India to build the fort. It took about 25 years to build the fort. After the fall of Trymbak Fort in 1818, this fort was besieged by the British East India Company.

Structure of Malegaon Fort
The Malegaon Fort is in good condition. The height of the inner wall is nearly 60 feet and has 9 bastions in it. The fort has lofty entrance doors. The thickness of the walls is about 6 feet. There are two cannons at the entrance door. There is a hexagonal well inside the fort.

Visiting Information of Malegaon Fort
Malegaon Fort is located in the midst of Malegaon town. It is close to the Ramsetu Bridge. The fort is open to the public between 10 am – 5 pm.
