Makali Durga Fort

Makali Durga Fort is situated in Makali Durga village in Bangalore Rural district in Karnataka. It is a popular tourist destination which attracts rock climbers, trekkers and bird watchers.

The site is located almost 10 km from Doddaballapura and 60km from Bengaluru (Bangalore). It was built on the top of a massive granite hill. The fort at Makali Durga is clustered amongst the mountain range shaped like a valley.

The fortress is located at a height of 1,350m and is located near the Ghati Subramanya pilgrimage center. There is an old temple devoted to Lord Shiva in the vicinity of Makali Durga Fort. The shrine includes an image of Shiva and His divine bull Nandi.

The site is maintained by the Government of Karnataka. It is a popular tourist destination and also attracts rock climbers, trekkers and bird watchers.
