Lakkapuram is a commercial town located in the city of Erode in Tamil Nadu. The economy of the town is mainly dependent on textile production and power looms.

It has also developed several residential areas round the town. Subbaraya Valasu and Karukkampalayam are located in the vicinity of the town.

Economy of Lakkapuram
The economy of the Lakkapuram is mainly dependent on the textile production and power looms. Several loom units have been developed in this region that lead to the development of textile trade here. Kongu Vellala Gounders, a community mainly dependent on agriculture as its main source of income also remains engaged in the commercial activities of the town. The Regional Transport Office (RTO) is located a kilometre away Lakkapuram.

The town has established many schools and colleges like Al Ameen Engineering College and Al Ameen Polytechnic. These have been set up at a distance of 4 km from the town. Pilgrimage Centre in Lakkapuram
Lakkapuram is an important pilgrimage centre visited by many devotees. The famous Hindu shrine Lakkapuram Murugan Temple is located in the district on the Erode-Karur Highway. The temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga and is on the banks of Kaveri River. The temple is almost 9 km away from the Central Bus stand located at Swastik Circle and 6 kms away from Erode. The Sivagiri Bus Station is at a distance of 19 km from the temple. Another famous pilgrimage centre Kodumudi Magudeswarar Temple is also located here. Sempu Malai temple is at a distance of 1 km from Lakkapuram. Other than these the Lakkapuram Masjid is also present in the town.

Lakkapuram is well connected with all modes of transport. Buses ply from all the major cities for the town. The main railway station is located at Erode Junction at a distance of 6 km. The tourists can also avail the Waterways Ferry Services here that convey from Kaveri River to the banks on Namakkal District. A Ferry Station is also located here.
