Krishna Shishya who is located somewhere in the 12 century is among those astrologers who were known for their observations but lacked in popularity. Krishna shishya is one such scholar who belonged to the interiors of Kerala. While not much is known about him, he is popularly known in Kerala for composing two works. While the first is concerned with metrical commentary on Hora a compilation by Varahamihira; the second one is a short treatise written in verse which raises astrological queries. This is named as Prasnaphalapraptikalanirnaya. In both the texts he aims at propagating the teachings of his teacher Krishnacharya.
Thus Krishna Shishiya can be regarded as one of those scholars who existed in Kerala who prominently focussed on the guru shishya relationship which is another important feature of Indian culture. The tradition of Guru shishya has been encouraged since the age of Mahabharata which began between lord Krishna and his disciple Arjun. This tradition of Guru shishya continued in many parts of Kerala which got expression in the writings of Krishna shishiya.
