Keetham Lake, AgraKeetham Lake is also generally called the "Sur Sarovar". It is a relaxing spot, ideal for a relaxed outing. A wide variety of fish and water-birds add to the lake`s natural charm and beauty. Typically the climatic condition of the lake area is comprised of hot windy summers and extremely cold winters.

The entire area of the lake is formed in a catchments area of 7.13 kilometres square. Keetham Lake is pentagonal in shape. There are artificially created islands for shelter and breeding grounds to the migratory birds. The best thing is that it is placed on the way of Delhi and tourists can visit during their journey to Agra.

Location of Keetham Lake
Keetham Lake is a scenic lake which is located just outside the Indian city of Agra on the highway of Agra - Delhi (NH 2). It is about 20 kilometres from Agra and 12 kilometres from Sikandra, located within the Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary.

Climate of Keetham Lake
The climatic condition of Keetham lake area is typical of Uttar Pradesh plains, with hot windy summers and extremely cold winters. The average temperature ranges between 1.5 degree C and 49 degree C. The monsoon season occurs from July to September.

Water Management of Keetham Lake
The raw water for Keetham Lake is acquired from Agra Canal originating from Okhla barrage on River Yamuna in Delhi. At Delhi - Agra road, the Agra Canal water is diverted through Jodhpur branch near Anand Engineering Collage located about 2 kilometres from Keetham. The lake water of Keetham is also used as raw water intake for Mathura Refinery Water Treatment Plant located in vicinity of Keetham Lake.

There are more than 106 species of travelling and inhabitant birds known to have their resting habitats at Keetham Lake. The important marine birds inhabiting Keetham lake are Little Gerbs, Cormorants, Darter, Grey Heron, Purple Heron, Paddy Bird, Cattle Egrets, Large Egrets, Smaller Egrets, Little Egrets, Night Heron, Indian Reef Heron, Black necked Stork, white Ibis, Spon Bill, Greying Goose, Bar headed Goose, Lesser Whistling Teal, Ruddy Shelduck, Pintail, Common Teal, Spot Billed Duck, Gadwall, Wigeon, Shoveler and Comb Duck.

Visiting Information of Keetham Lake
Keetham Lake is open from 6 am to 6 pm daily. It takes 26 minutes to travel from Agra Cantonment Railway Station to Keetham Lake. Estimated driving distance between Keetham Lake and Agra Cantonment Railway Station is 22 kilometres or 13.7 miles or 11.9 nautical miles.
