Kattimedu is a small village located in Thiruvarur District in Tamil Nadu. Vellankani Church, Nagore Dharga and Perumal Temple are some of the important pilgrimage centres in the village.

Kattimedu, Tamil NaduKattimedu is located in Thiruvarur District in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a small village that is under the Kattimedu and Adirangam Panchayat. It is located at a distance of almost 5 kms from Thiruthuraipoondi.

Geography of Kattimedu
Kattimedu enjoys a favourable climate. During the winters the temperature varies from 20 to 25 C and during the summers it varies from 32 to 40 C. The coldest months are December and January while the hottest months are April and May.

The main source of income for the residents of the village is agriculture. The farmers of Kattimedu depend upon the north east monsoons for irrigation purpose. The Kaveri River is another source of water for them. The village has almost 15 ponds.

Pilgrimage Centres in Kattimedu
Kattimedu is an important pilgrimage place with temples, mosques and churches standing in perfect harmony with each other. The village has a church named as St. John. The Vellankani Church is located at a distance of 35 kms from the village. Kattimedu also has two mosques. The Nagore Dharga is located almost 40 kms away from the town. The 500 years old Perumal Temple is located at Adirangam.

Educational Institutions in Kattimedu
Kattimedu has set up few schools and colleges. The town has a government school and a matriculation school. The government school encompasses almost 500 students. A nursery and primary school has also been established to impart education to children belonging to the age group of 3 to 10. Apart from these there are almost 16 schools in Thiruthuraipoondi, the nearest town from Kattimedu.

Kattimedu is well connected by different modes of transports. The nearest railway station is located at a distance of 5 kms in Thiruthuraipoondi. The nearest International airport is located at a distance of 110 kms at Tiruchirapalli. The nearest port is located at Nagapattinam is almost 45 kms from Kattimedu.
