Jangali Jayagad Fort is one of two forts of Jaigad that is surrounded by thick vegetation, hence earning its name. The hard stone structure of the massive fort is located at about 2957ft above sea level. This fort is less visited due to its occurrence in Koyana Wildlife Sanctuary which is now part of Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. The path to the fort passes through dense forest. The jungle is home to variety of insects, birds, reptiles and animals.

Jangali Jayagad Fort is in a very dilapidated condition. There is no main entrance gate, water cistern or caves on the fort. There is an old well and ruins of Devi temple.

Visiting Information of Jangali Jayagad
The nearby village is Nawja and town is Koyananagar. From Koyananagar, one has to go to the village Nawja which is the base village for this fort. The entry permission to the fort is to be obtained from the forest office at Koyananagar. There are authorised forest local guides staying in Nawja, whose participation in the trek is compulsory. The vehicles are to be kept on the road and further a trekking of an hour leads to the Jangali Jayagad Fort. The trek to the fort can easily be completed in a day.
