Jagtial Fort

The fortress was founded by the ruler Ibrahim Dhamsa during the reign of the Mughal dynasty. The structure was constructed by 2 French engineers, namely Jack and Tal, under the supervision of the Mughal king. The geographical coordinates of Jagtial are latitude 18.8°N and longitude 78.93°E. The town is located at a height of 264 m and is bordered by four water bodies which are known as Mote pond, Dharma Samandar, Mupparaap and Kandla Palli.

The town and the fortress of Jagtial were developed by the Mughal ruler Ibrahim Dhamsa during the 18th century. The fortified building was built with the support of 2 engineers from France, named Jack and Tal. Thus the fort was initially named as Jacktal Fort. However in due course of the time, the name was modified into Jagtial.

One of the most prominent monuments in the fortress is the Jama Masjid which was also established in the 18th century. The fort also consists of several cannons that were used to defend the structure and the town during battles and attacks from enemy forces. A court and a Tahsil Office were also built in the town of Jagtial during the 18th century.
