Jackie Shroff, Bollywood ActorJackie Shroff, born Jaikishen Kakubhai Shroff, is an Indian actor popular as a Hindi film lead hero and for his style. Born on February 1, 1957, in Udgir city in the Latur district of Maharashtra, in a Gujarati speaking family, he has been working in the Hindi film industry for over three decades and has acted in over 200 films in 9 languages, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu besides Hindi.

Early Life of Jackie Shroff
Jackie Shroff was born to father Kakubhai Haribhai Shroff, a Gujrati and mother Rita Shroff, a Turk from Kazakhstan. His family then lived in the Teen Batti area of Malabar Hills, Mumbai. Jackie initially modelled for a few advertisements before entering into film industry. He had also played a minor role of a villain in the Dev Anand-Zeenat Aman-Raakhee starrer "Heera Panna", which released in 1973. He later appeared in another Dev Anand film "Swami Dada" that released in 1982.

Film Career of Jackie Shroff
It wasn"t until 1983 when filmmaker Subhash Ghai gave Jackie Shroff his screen name "Jackie" and launched him as a lead hero in the 1983 romantic action film "Hero". The film was a Super Hit at the box office and catapulted Jackie to stardom. This was followed by yet another hit "Andar Baahar" in 1984, where he appeared alongside his long time co-star and friend Anil Kapoor for the first time. He later continued to appear in many films, which included Subhash Ghai movies in which he worked irrespective of the role he was offered. Films "Yudh" and "Jaanoo" of 1985 were successful films. He then appeared in Subhash Ghai"s 1986 action film `Karma` alongside an ensemble cast of veteran actors Dilip Kumar, Nutan, Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Poonam Dhillon, Sridevi and Anupam Kher. The film was the highest grossing Hindi film of the year. He appeared in Mahesh Bhatt"s 1987 domestic drama "Kaash" alongside Dimple Kapadia and Anupam Kher. The film with its realistic content received critical acclaim.

Jackie again featured alongside Anil Kapoor in the 1989 immensely successful films `Ram Lakhan` and `Parinda`, in both of which, they played brothers. Jackie was lauded for his performance in "Parinda" and was honoured with the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. His subsequent memorable portrayals include that of a freedom fighter in "1942: A Love Story", a cop in "Khalnayak", an unemployed youngster frustrated with the nation"s crime and corruption in "Angaar", a common man taking on the criminal elements of the society in "Gardish", a movie star in "Rangeela" and the protagonist Devdas" friend Chunnilal "Chunnibabu", in the 2002 film "Devdas" that earned universal acclaim and humongous success. He was also applauded for his performance of a "zamindar" in the Bengali film "Antar Mahal". In the contemporary years, Jackie has appeared in supporting roles of varied range in numerous Hindi films, like "Yaadein", "Apna Sapna Money Money", "Bhagam Bhag", "Fool N Final", "Hulchul", "Kyon Ki...", "Bhoot Unkle", "Dhoom:3", "Happy New Year" and most recently in the 2015 films "Brothers" and "Jazbaa" and 2016"s "Chalk n Duster". During this period, he also ventured into doing many multilingual films, ranging in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Oriya and Tamil cinemas.

Jackie was a judge in the 2010 magic reality show "India"s Magic Star" that was broadcast on erstwhile Indian channel Star One.

Personal Life of Jackie Shroff
Jackie Shroff married long time girlfriend Ayesha Dutt, who also worked a model and actress, on her birthday June 5, 1987. They had two children, a son whom they named Jai, who is a Bollywood actor better known with his screen name Tiger Shroff, and a daughter named Krishna. At the age of 10, Jackie lost his brother Hemant Shroff who died drowning. Considered as one of the most handsome and stylish stars, Jackie is also regarded as one of Bollywood`s most cordial and generous human beings. He has been in charitable contribution to many underprivileged street children.
