Island Towns in Kaveri River

Majuli Island

Sriharikota
Sriharikota is a barrier island in India. It is off the Bay of Bengal coast located in Andhra Pradesh. It houses the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, one of the two satellite launch centres in India with the other being the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station in Thiruvananthapuram.

Divar
The island of Divar is derived from the word Dipavati, which lies in the Mandovi river of Goa. Divar Island has a large number of temples dedicated to Hindu goddess, many of which are relatively new. The most prominent of them is the Shri Ganesh Sateri Temple at Sateri Bhat.

Shankhodhar
Shankhodhar is an inhabited island at mouth of Gulf of Kutch. It is situated 3 km off the coast of Okha. Shankhodhar Island is measured northwest to southeast in 13 km with an average 4 km in east-west direction. It is a strip of sand and stone situated 30 km north of town of Dwarka.

Shivasamudra

Munroe Island
Munroe Island is located at the confluence of Ashtamudi Lake and the Kallada River. The island village is a tourism destination where one can see the coir retting process, coir weaving, fishing, prawns feeding, migratory bird watch, narrow canals and waterways, coconut farms on the lake shore, lagoons, mangrove plants and the beautiful tiny islands of Pathupara.

Lakshadweep
Lakshadweep is a group of islands over 200 to 440 kilometres off the south western coast of India. The archipelago is a Union Territory and is governed by the Union Government of India. Aminidivi subgroup of islands and the Laccadive subgroup of islands are both the subgroups having a submarine connection between them through Pitti Bank.

Elephanta Island
Elephanta Island is one of a number of islands in Mumbai Harbour, east of Mumbai. It is a popular tourist destination because of the island`s cave temples, Elephanta Caves that have been carved out of rock.

Srirangam Island
Srirangam Island is a river island in the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu. It is formed by the river Kaveri and the Kollidam, a tributary of the Kaveri. The island is 19 miles in length and 1.5 miles wide.

Vypeen
Vypeen Island is one of a group of islands that form part of the city of Kochi, in the south-western Indian state of Kerala. The island was formed in the year 1341, having the tourist importance.Island Towns in India
