Hingolgadh Sanctuary was declared as a `private forest` in 1973 and upgraded to `Wildlife Sanctuary` in 1980 and has been given special protection since then. Owing to its unique nature education features, the task of management and development of the sanctuary was handed over to G.E.E.R Foundation in 1984. From that time, Hingolgadh Sanctuary is being managed by the Foundation under the statutory control of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) of Gujarat. The Foundation manages the interpretation centre and campsite in the Sanctuary.
