Heroes of Indian Army have proved it time and again as they are the real heroes, soldiers who sacrificed their lives with courage and valour for the country and its people. They are not born with a special power, they are ordinary people like everyone but do extraordinary things when the situation demands. Indian Armed Forces have kept the invaders out and in the process; many brave heroes of the nation have had to make the ultimate sacrifice to keep the country safe.

Field Marshall K.M. Cariappa: Field Marshall Kodandera Madappa Cariappa is best remembered as the legend who made the Indian Army truly Indian. He was the First Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army and led the Indian forces on the Western Front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1947.
Naik Jadunath Singh: Naik Jadunath Singh, the fourth recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, fought in Jammu and Kashmir in the Indo-Pak war of 1947-48. His presence of mind and bravery saved his post, not just once but thrice, from the enemy. Shipping Corporation of India named an oil tanker as “Param Vir Chakra Jadunath Singh†in order to pay tribute to this brave heart.
Major Shaitan Singh: Major Shaitan Singh"s supreme courage, leadership and exemplary devotion to duty inspired his company to fight almost to the last man. He was awarded Param Vir Chakra. A statue of this brave soldier has been placed at a square in his native city of Jodhpur.
Chm Piru Singh: Company Havildar Major Piru Singh, a soldier in the Indian Army, awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India"s highest award for valour in the face of the enemy. He died in service during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947. He has set a remarkable example for other comrades.
Captain Gurbachan Singh Salaria: Captain Gurbachan Singh Salaria is a military war hero, who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India"s highest wartime military award. His leadership, courage, unflinching devotion to duty and disregard for personal safety were in the best traditions of the Indian Army.
Sub Joginder Singh Yadav: Subedar Joginder Singh Yadav the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. He received this award at the age of 19 years for his actions during the Kargil war. The heroic deeds of Joginder Singh Yadav and his platoon were screen adapted in the Bollywood movie "Lakshya".
Havildar Abdul Hamid: Havildar Abdul Hamid"s brave action inspired his comrades to put up a gallant fight and to beat back the heavy tank assault by the enemy. His complete disregard for his personal safety during the operation and his sustained acts of bravery in the face of constant enemy fire were a shining example not only to his unit, but also to the whole division.
